Use scale-dependent rendering of
layers, features and labels. Design each map as a series of scale
levels that work for a specific map scale range. See the USAMap
sample in the standard samples on how to use zoom levels.
Shapefiles and TAB files should have spatial indexes built for best
Enable the EnableSession property
of the Map control to avoid adding layers and setting their
properties on each postback, this property should be set to True in
the 'Properties' window of Visual Studio. See the MapSession.aspx
sample in the standard samples on how to use sessions.
Cache your maps. By
caching your maps, you will reduce the time that it takes for your
map to draw. When ever possible, try to cache all of the layers in
projection will increase the rendering time of a map.
Performance will always be better if you project all of your data
into the same projection prior to displaying it in AspMap.
